Refund policy

1. Fitment Guarantee (When We Confirmed Fitment)

If we confirmed compatibility using your VIN/registration and/or OEM part number before purchase and the part doesn’t fit, we will:

  • Cover return shipping, and
  • Replace with the correct item (if available) or refund in full, including your original shipping.

We may request VIN/rego and photos to verify the issue. Damage from improper installation or misuse is excluded.

2. Change-of-Mind Returns (14 Days)

You may return items within 14 days of delivery for replacement, exchange, store credit, or a refund of the product price only, provided the item is:

  • Unfitted / uninstalled,
  • in its original packaging with all tags, accessories, and manuals, and
  • in resaleable condition.

Costs for change-of-mind returns

  • Return shipping: Customer pays.
  • Handling fee: A small handling fee applies (5% of item price; minimum NZD $10; maximum NZD $50) to cover inspection, repackaging and administration.
  • Original shipping: Non-refundable.
  • Refund scope: Product price only (less the handling fee).

RMA required: Do not send items back without an RMA; they may be refused.

3. Damages, Defects, or Wrong Item (48-Hour Notice)

Please inspect on delivery and email info@tasmanparts.co.nz within 48 hours if your order is damaged, defective, or incorrect. Include:

  • Order number
  • Photos of the outer carton, shipping label, internal packaging, and the item
  • A brief description of the issue

Carrier damage (Tasman-arranged shipping): Once confirmed, we will repair, replace, or refund (at our discretion) and cover return shipping. Keep all packaging for the carrier investigation.

Customer-arranged carriers / collection: If you nominate your own carrier or collect the goods, title and risk pass on pickup. Please claim directly with your carrier; we’ll assist with documentation.

4. Bulky Freight (Bumpers, Impact Bars, etc.)

On delivery: Inspect immediately. If damage is visible, note it on the driver’s proof of delivery (POD) and photograph before unboxing.

For returns: Use double-wall cartons, adequate foam/corner protection, and re-box in the original packaging. We may decline or deduct if items return damaged due to inadequate packing.

5. Items Not Eligible for Return (Unless Faulty under NZ Law)

  • Electrical/electronic parts once installed (e.g., ECUs, sensors, alternators, coils)
  • Airbags / pyrotechnic or safety components
  • Fluids, chemicals, hazardous goods
  • Custom/special orders or personalised items
  • Gift cards
  • Sale/clearance items (unless faulty)

Installed or used items are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.

6. Installation & Use

Automotive parts should be installed by a qualified professional. We are not responsible for damage or safety issues arising from improper installation, misuse, modifications, racing/competition use, or operation outside manufacturer specifications. This does not limit your rights under NZ law.

7. How to Start a Return (RMA Required)

Email info@tasmanparts.co.nz to request an RMA. We’ll send instructions and, where applicable, a label.

8. Who Pays Shipping? (Quick Guide)

  • Change-of-mind: Customer pays return shipping; original shipping non-refundable; handling fee applies.
  • Fitment Guarantee (we confirmed by VIN/OEM): We pay return shipping and refund original shipping (or replace).
  • Our error / DOA / carrier damage (reported within 48h): We pay return shipping and replace/refund.

9. Refund Timing & Method

Once your return is received and inspected, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 5–10 business days. Your bank/card issuer may take additional time to post it. If more than 15 business days have passed since approval, contact info@tasmanparts.co.nz.

10. Your NZ Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
